West Angelas Mine is a large open-cut iron ore mine located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The mine is owned and operated by Rio Tinto, one of the world’s largest mining companies. The mine has been in operation since the late 1960s and is currently the largest single open-cut iron ore mine in the world.

West Angelas Mine is renowned for its production of high-grade iron ore. The ore is mined using traditional drill and blast methods, with the ore then being crushed and screened before being loaded onto rail wagons and transported to the port of Dampier. The mine produces around 30 million tonnes of iron ore per year, which is then exported to countries around the world.

In addition to iron ore, West Angelas Mine also produces other minerals such as copper, gold, and nickel. The mine also has a number of processing plants on site which are used to refine the ore before it is shipped. The mine also has an extensive rail network which is used to transport the ore to the port.

West Angelas Mine is a major employer in the region and employs over 1,000 people. The mine is also a major contributor to the local economy and has been instrumental in the development of the region. The mine also has a number of environmental initiatives in place, such as the rehabilitation of land disturbed by mining activities.

West Angelas Mine is a key part of Rio Tinto’s iron ore operations in Australia and is a key contributor to the company’s success. The mine has been in operation for over 50 years and is expected to continue to be a major contributor to the company’s success for many years to come.
