What is tanzanite?

Tanzanite is an astonishing gemstone. It is a tri-chroic gem, which means that it has 3 colors. When this stone is mined it is violet, blue, and brown, it completely depends on the viewing axis. It set up in only one place worldwide. Its blue, surrounded by a fine hint of purple, is a magnificent color. This stone was found in 1967. The gemstone is believed to have a very little acceptance to ultrasonic, and must not be subjected to this technique of cleaning.

Where do they form?

  • BIREFRINGENCE: is good
  • HARDNESS: 6.5-7

Physical Properties :

Cut: It is significant not only for bringing out its brightness, a skilled cutting verifies, which one of the color component-blue or violet-will get the fame.

Clarity: The clarity or clearness of the stone is anxious; tanzanite is recognized for its clearness with almost no inclusion. Cleavage is said to be just right. But being a soft stone, the cracks within are fragile. Though, as for other gemstones, so for the tanzanite, occurrence of natural inclusion is an evidence of their being real. As, glass or any other simulated stones don't have such inclusion.

Color: The color of tanzanite is one of the majority vital factors behind its huge fame. Although the bluish violet is the mainly common color in tanzanite, the passion of blue or violet differs with its size.

Carat: Blue tanzanite’s which are very uncommon; appear only in huge pieces of stones, weighing over 10 carat weight. The smallest stones in the category of it are about 1-3 carats display soft velvety tone. An additional thing connecting tanzanite is its changing of color in various lights.
