Mineral Mining

Nature offers us a lot of information when it comes to things that hold in it, within it and on it. The list of minerals ranges from the likes of common salt to the wide spread usage of coal, the elite list of materials are extremely vast. Mining is required to obtain any material that cannot be grown through agricultural processes.

The word mining sounds a lot like mineral, and that's not a coincidence because mining is how minerals are removed from the ground. There are different ways by which minerals are extracted from the ground, but the two main methods are called surface mining and subsurface mining.

Surface mining is done on the surface where the ores are located. When the ore deposits are large open pit method of mining is practiced. When minerals are found deep underground, these minerals are extracted by subsurface mining. Although some elements can be found in the purest forms for eg. Gold, copper etc they are bound up in minerals. Processing, mining and prospecting minerals are complex processes and very expensive methods. The impact of mining has caused several environmental issues and also threat to human life. But modern methods have been adopted to safeguard the life and natural beauty. It is not to be forgotten that the minerals are useful and important for nation to develop economically.
