Coal Creek is a small town in the South Gippsland area of Victoria, Australia, now essentially a suburb of Korumburra.Coal was discovered in the area in 1872, and the region subsequently developed an important coal mining industry. The mine at Coal Creek operated from the 1880s to the 1958, when operations ceased.

The South Waratah Colliery was a coal mine located at Kotara South, in The Waratah Coal Company sank its first shaft in 1873 to mine coal from the Victoria Tunnel Seam. A colliery branch line, known as the Gully Line or Raspberry Gully Line, was opened on 24 October 1876 and extended from the Scholey Street Junction to the Colliery for the transportation of the coal from the mine to coal loading facilities at the Port of Newcastle.

Yallourn Power Station was a complex of six brown coal fuelled power stations built progressively from the 1920s to the 1960s. Located in Victoria's Latrobe Valley, the complex was situated beside the Latrobe River, with the company town of Yallourn located to the south west.
