Endeavour Mining Corporation, a West African gold producer, announced the discovery of a potential new flagship gold project in the country of Côte d’Ivoire. The company said that the project, located in the north-central region of the country, has the potential to be a major gold producer. The announcement follows the company’s recent success in the region, where it has already developed and is operating three gold mines in Burkina Faso and one in Côte d’Ivoire.

The new project, located in the Yanfolila region, is estimated to contain an inferred mineral resource of 2.3 million ounces of gold. Endeavour Mining’s CEO, Sébastien de Montessus, said that the discovery of the project was the result of “years of exploration and hard work” by the company’s team in Côte d’Ivoire.

He said that the project would be a major addition to the company’s portfolio and could become its flagship project in the region. De Montessus added that the project had the potential to become one of the largest gold mines in Côte d’Ivoire. He said that the company was now working on a feasibility study to determine the project’s economic viability and the best way to develop it.

The discovery of the project is the latest in a series of successes for Endeavour Mining in the region. The company has already developed and is operating three gold mines in Burkina Faso and one in Côte d’Ivoire. It also has two other projects in development in the region. The company said that the Yanfolila project was located in an area with good infrastructure and access to power, water, and transportation. It said that the project was also located close to existing gold mines, which would make it easier to develop.

Endeavour Mining said that it had already begun the process of securing the necessary permits and licenses to develop the project. It said that it was also in the process of engaging with local communities to ensure that the project is developed in a socially responsible manner. The company said that it was confident that the project could become a major gold producer in the region.

It said that it was now focusing on completing the feasibility study and that it expected to make a decision on whether to proceed with the project by the end of the year. If the project is approved, Endeavour Mining said that it would begin construction in 2021 and that it expected the project to be operational by the end of 2022. It said that the project could produce up to 200,000 ounces of gold per year.
